Latest report from Green Zone Japan on the classification of medical cannabis

A recent report by Green Zone Japan, ‘Research on the classification of medical cannabis and legal and regulatory frameworks in other countries’, explores the challenges of various cannabinoids (cannabis extracts) in clinical trials. The report focuses specifically on the effects of cannabis derivatives on intractable epilepsy and research for future measures. The report is now available to read in its entirety on the website for Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of the Japanese Government; this is significant as the Japanese Government has been incredibly strict about cannabis regulations and hosting GZJ’s report on the official government website illustrates the shifting attitudes towards cannabis derived products in Japan.

The report provides comparative study of the legal classification, management, and distribution of various medical cannabis products in other countries to help conformity with the legal system in Japan. Always Pure Organics’ Regional Director of Asia, Chikako Yoshida, provided expert advice on the laws surrounding medical cannabis in the UK and the country’s legal framework for the report. APO and Green Zone Japan have worked together for over a year on the Midori-No-Wa project in Japan. The project aims to support providing paediatric patients access to therapeutic level doses of CBD products at an affordable price.
