Online Screening of CBD Nation Sponsored by GZJ and APO
On Sunday the 4th of July, Green Zone Japan hosted, co-sponsored by APO, an online screening of the documentary “CBD Nation” on medical cannabis and CBD. Approximately one hundred participants attended the online screening.
“CBD Nation” explores the experiences of patients and their families whose symptoms improved after using CBD and cannabis. Medical findings from doctors and researchers, and perspectives from cannabis farmers and entrepreneurs are also addressed in the documentary. The film features the case of Rylie Maedler in Delaware, USA, who started having seizures after a surgery removing tumours on her face. After she started taking medical cannabis her seizures were eliminated and her tumours shrunk. Based on her own experience, Rylie began lobbying and reaching out to local politicians, and “Rylie’s Law”, a bill that allows children to use medical cannabis, was passed in Delaware in 2015.
After the screening, Chikako Yoshida, APO Regional Director in Asia, joined a discussion as a guest speaker with Green Zone Japan’s Executive Director Dr. Yuji Masataka, and Director Naoko Miki. They discussed the effectiveness of CBD and cannabis, its laws and legislation, and answered questions about CBD and cannabis from the attendees. During the discussion, Chikako touched upon Corporate Social Responsibility and said that ‘We would like to contribute to creating an environment where people in need can get CBD and cannabis products, the amount they need and when they need them, without worrying about the financial burden’.
APO has been supporting the CBD charity bank “Midori-no-wa (Green Circle)” for children with intractable epilepsy offered by Green Zone Japan. Midori-no-wa is a non-profit project that provides paediatric patients access to therapeutic-level doses of CBD products at affordable prices.
